To Cindy, I have ridden both trails and I prefer the Katy trail due to the fact that the trail by the most part is well maintained. There are numerous stops for food, water, repairs as well as medical help. You are able to get shuttle support and there is also the Amtrak train to shuttle bikers and their bikes in some locations.
