Great Forum very helpful. My husband and I would like to ride the Cowboy Trail one way and put our bikes in a U haul truck for the return trip. Either way doesn’t matter. My challenge is I don’t want to run into snakes. I was wondering if it’s cold in October and November or even early Spring so the snake would be out by the trail. Most of the videos of the Cowboy Trail don’t mention snakes so I’m wondering if it’s really a problem. Thanks very much.

I've done the trail out and back every year since 2018 and have never seen a snake. Not to say you won't, but I'd say that it's a non-issue. Last year I did it with my brother in Oct and we had some pretty cold weather a day or two. Going in Sept this year.

Are there snakes around? You bet! Do they want to bother you? Nope! They really aren't a problem, it's the mosquitos that will drive you nuts in the summer evenings. October can be decent but expect cold nights. November you're really upping the chance of trip ending snow. September is a great time to ride the trail IMO. Hope you come and enjoy the trail!
