Starting April 30, 2024, the Cowboy Trail will be temporarily closed west of Broken Bridge by Norfolk to repair damage caused by the 2019 flood. The bridge over the Elkhorn River will still be open but the trail will be closed to the public for one mile west of the bridge. Thru traffic can use Battle Creek Rd. to detour around the closure and access the trail again two miles west of the Cowboy Trail parking lot. Here's a map of the temporarily closed area and a detour.
